Del Mar Heights School
Del Mar Heights School replaces an aging K–6 campus within a well-established coastal community. Through a seven-part symposium attended by more than 150 community members, the District, educators, families, and residents helped shape a shared vision for the school's future — with student artwork and input further informing the design. The campus embraces its setting, capturing coastal views and strengthening its connection to the adjacent Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Organized into grade-level learning villages, the school supports contemporary teaching through collaborative environments, flexible learning spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections. Native coastal landscaping, boardwalk-inspired pathways, and passive ventilation reinforce a sense of place while supporting student well-being and academic success.
